Shamrock Rugby Football Club Bylaws


Article I: This Organizations will be know as the Shamrock Rugby Football Club


Article II: The purpose of the Shamrock Rugby Football Club will be to represent the college in the Allegheny Rugby at the division II level that is presently compromised of the following teams: California University of Pennsylvania, Clarion University, Franciscan University, University of Pittsburgh, Robert Morris University, Washingtong and Jefferson College and West Virginia University.


Article III: Membership will be open to any male student who: (1) is an undergraduate at Slippery Rock University; (2) participates in team practice sessions (there will be no cuts); (3) attends all matches and other mandatory events.


Article IV: The formal officers of the Rugby Club will be a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and coach.

Section I: The titles of the officers will be President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Coach.

Section II: Qualifications for these officers will be:
(a) College standing of sophomore or higher
(b) Minimum Q.P.A. of 2.0 or higher

Section III:
(i)The duties of the coach will be:
(a) To direct the team on both the playing and practicing fields
(b) To attend all meetings of a league nature

(ii)The duties of the President will be:
(a) To attend the Slippery Rock University club meetings as necessary
(b) To assist the team coach in any way and correspond all team activity to the team advisor
(c) Make sure all players adhere to rules set by the team and the union

(iii)The duties of the Vice-President will be:
(a) To take over all duties of the President on and off the field in case of the Presidents absence
(b) To assist the President in any decision-making

(iv)The duties of the treasurer will be:
(a) To keep accurate records of the teams budget
(b) To collect and deposit membership dues

(v)The duties of the Secretary will be:
(a) To set up all matches
(b) To schedule games, times and locations
(c) To confirm the games
(d) To communicate with the rugby union and other teams

Section IV: The procedure for the removal from office will be brought in front of the club. The case will be presentedand it will take a 2/3 vote of the team.

Section V: The procedure for filling a vacancy will be to meet the requirements already stated in Article IV, Section II and the majority vote wins.


Article V: Elections will be held at the last meeting of the fall semester.

Section I: Those who are eligible to run must have: (a) College standing of sophomore or higher
(b) Minimum Q.P.A. of 2.0 or higher


Article VI: There will be club meetings held as needed. Also, there will be four team practices held each week from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Tuesday through Friday.

Section I: Spring seasons are tentative and under the discretion of the team President and coach as far as the playing schedule.

Section II: The team must be represented by 2/3 of the members at all meetings.


Article VII: Financing of the club will come from the collection of CO-OP funds.

Section I: The team's finances are to be handled by the treasurer. The disbursement of these funds will be used for referees, equipment (balls, liner for field, tournament fees, etc.) time and traveling expenses, and team dues to variying affiliations.

Section II: Only the signature of the team president and/or the signature of the team treasurer will be accepted receive funds.


Article VIII: All members of the club will abide by all Federal, State, and local laws pertaining to the use of illegal substances.


Article IX: There will be no standing committees.


Article X: Amendments to the constitution may be made via 2/3 vote of the voting quorum.


Article XI: Ratification of this constitution will be made by a 2/3 vote of the voting quorum.
